Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. The father of Jacqueline, Elroy Fernandez, is from Sri Lanka. In 2006, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka. Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006, and was also a contestant in Miss Universe 2006. In 2006 she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Following that, she stepped into the world of television, hosting an interview show on Sri Lankan companies named Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. She played badminton at the national championships as young teenagers, however she decided to give her sporting career in order to pursue a career as a model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. The model is Mangalorean by origin. Her family ancestors are from the village of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state of India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the late 1980s. She has a mother who runs a travel agency also comes from this village.
